2024: Year of the Beverage Spoiler
As a beverage microbiology lab, we have never seen as many outbreaks as we have in the past year. Regional industry leaders across the country are coming to us, suffering devastating losses.
In a new series, we’ll document some of these outbreaks at facilities reaching maturity. We hope to provide useful tools, regardless of your size or product lineup, so you can avoid similar outcomes.
Rewind to 2016. A man prone to incoherent emotional outbursts has gained control of the world’s largest nuclear arsenal. With a sense of foreboding, many leave comfortable jobs to open beverage facilities.
The beverage facilities are warmly welcomed in communities gutted by global economics, keen to revive manufacturing and diversify agriculture. Together, they work to create safe spaces, outlets for live music and art, and dog patios.
But all is not well. Deep in the hoses, heat exchangers and gaskets lurks an ecosystem of facility microbes few were warned about when taking the leap.
In this series, we’ll describe microbial infestations we’ve encountered from coast to coast. Fortunately for the affected facilities, the situations were placed in the capable hands of Raft’s microbiologists. The concurrence of incidents in maturing beverage facilities is as predictable as it is horrifying for those involved.
Join us as we observe the microbes growing on equipment in every beverage facility across the country – even yours… 👻
